The AASY Iyengar Yoga Weekend Intensives are a fun and challenging way to deepen personal practice and develop skills through pranayama, advanced asana, and master classes covering Iyengar methodology.
Laurie Blakeney, a personal student of BKS Iyengar, holds one of the few Advanced Teaching Certificates conferred directly by the renowned yoga master. She’s been an IYNAUS Assessor since 1990 and has chaired the National Certification Committee and the Teachers’ Convention Curriculum Committees.
A strong supporter of the assessment process, she will help participants investigate Iyengar methodology based on Iyengar Certification criteria established by the national organization - IYNAUS.*
Join us for a weekend of deep study and enjoyment.
- 10 hours of in-depth Asana classes that include asana from all categories of poses, including inversions with variations, difficult backbends, and balancings. Students should have a minimum of 3 years experience in Iyengar yoga, and be able to hold independant inversions for at least 5 minutes.
- 2 hours of Pranayama classes covering seated, supine, and digital pranayamas.
- 6 hours of master classes covering Iyengar methodology that will focus on developing better understanding of the Iyengar method . These classes are also open to any serious students who may be interested in Iyengar pedagogy.
